"Ok, the natural landscape I'd like to talk about is the place where I grew up. 我老家是武威，武威古称凉州，位于三大高原交汇处，现下辖三县一区，是西北首府、六朝古都。Wuwei, ancient name Liangzhou, sits where three great plateaus meet and governs three counties and one district today. What amazes me is this: you can find nearly every kind of landform there, except the ocean. 对，除了海，别的地貌全有，雪山、峡谷、草原、林海、高原、沙漠、丘陵、丹霞，样样不缺。And the scenery draws visitors from all over the world, they come just to see it for themselves."
"There are snow-capped mountains in the south, peaks that keep their white even in early summer. Then come deep canyons and wide grasslands where sheep and cattle graze all day. Move a bit and you hit the forest sea, 林海, thick pine woods that smell of resin after rain. And of course there are plateaus, stretches of desert, and soft rolling hills."
"My favourite has to be the Danxia landforms. 丹霞，就是那种红层彩色山岩。In Gulang County, 古浪县, we have the Kulongshan Danxia and the Gulang Gorge Danxia. And in Tianzhu County, 天祝县, around Benkang Village near Tiantang Town, there is the Benkang Danxia. 本康丹霞。The rock there runs red, orange, yellow, like someone painted the hills by hand."
"Growing up boxed in by all this, you learn to care about the land without even trying. 这种地形处处不一样的地方，你舍不得糟蹋它。It isn't one single scene, it's a whole palette, and that is what makes home feel irreplaceable."
语法笔记
- you can find nearly every kind of landform there, except the ocean：用 except 引出"除外"项，比 without 更口语；landform 是雅思地理类高频词，记得加 s。
- peaks that keep their white：keep + 形容词，表"保持某种状态"，比 stay 更活；描述雪山终年积雪可用。
- stretches of desert：a stretch of 表"一片、一段"，用来量化地貌比 a piece of 更自然。
- someone painted the hills by hand：比喻句，雅思 Part 2 用 simile 能拉印象分，但别堆，一两句足够。
中式英语易错（地貌 / 自然类）
- ❌ "the mountain is very white" → ✅ "snow-capped mountains" / "peaks covered in snow"（雪山顶用 snow-capped，别用 very white）
- ❌ "the colour is very beautiful" → ✅ "the rock runs red, orange, yellow" / "striking colours"（颜色用 striking / vivid，别用 very beautiful）
- ❌ "I very like this place" → ✅ "this place means a lot to me" / "I'm really attached to it"（表达喜爱用 attached to，比 very like 地道）
同义替换（自然 / 环境类高频）
- beautiful → striking / breathtaking / picturesque
- big → vast / sweeping / expansive
- like → resemble / look as if / remind me of
- important → matter to me / mean a lot
